Brent Van Dyke is incoming President for the National Association of Conservation Districts. He traveled from the southwest corner of the country to the midwest for the National Association of Farm Broadcasting annual convention to share the message of conservation.

“We represent over 3,000 soil and water districts in America. There is a soil and water district in almost every county or perish in America and multiples in some states. So our focus is preserving and utilizing natural resources in a way that is sustainable for agriculture. We believe in protecting the environment as well as being active participants in food and fiber,” Van Dyke told me.

Projects are as diverse as the American countryside; water quality shapes programs in the midwest while water quantity is the issue in the west. The group will also be interested in the Farm Bill and other national policies to ensure farmers have what they need to produce food while protecting the resources needed to do that.
