The Commodity Classic was the site of many top honors last week, including the 4R Grower and Retailer Advocates title given to five American farmers and their retail partners by The Fertilizer Institute (TFI).
4R Grower Advocates are those who have shown excellence in the four areas of nutrient stewardship: using the right nutrient source at the right rate at the right time and in the right place.
The 2016 4R Grower and Retailer Advocates are:
Ric Rodriguez and Joe Bridges with J.R. Simplot Company in Powell, Wyoming
Darin Stolte of Olin, Iowa and Jimmie Daughtery, Precision Ag Specialist with River Valley Coop in Davenport, Iowa.
Grower Thomas Connors of Shipman, Illinois and nominating retailer Regan Wear, Agronomy Manager for CHS Inc.
Calvin Haile, Haile Farm, LLC. in Dunnsville, Virginia and Lucas Householder, General Manager of Southern States’ Cooperative’s Eastern Virginia Agronomy Operations in King William, Virginia.
Lowell and David Myerholtz, Myerholtz Farms, Gibonsburg, Ohio and John Fritz, CCA with The Andersons, Inc. Fremont, Ohio.
The 4R solution offers farmers an approach that protects the environment, increases their productivity and profitability as well as improved sustainability. These five growers represent a wide range of geographic and agriculture diversity.
