The worry of flat tires in the field are over thanks to Valley Irrigation. The Valley® Revolution™ airless tire utilizes technology eliminating those flats at the center pivot. While at the 2016 National Farm Machinery Show (NFMS), Jim Winders, territory manager for Valley, explained.
“Valley has designed an airless aperture style tire. There are plastic tires. There are steel tires out there. We looked at those and decided the rubber base tire is best for a pivot because there is some give when the motors start up. There is also an advantage when you get into a rocky application,” Winders said.
The cost of one flat for a grower is very costly and if it during a drought, you can’t afford to wait to get it fixed. Jim said the airless tire is a worry-free product.
Another product Winders discussed was rolled out by Valley three years ago. The BaseStation3 giving growers total control anytime, anywhere. “A farmer can run the farm using telemetry and not have to be onsite. With this product, they can run all their pivots on BaseStation3 from a laptop, iPad or cell phone,” Winders added. Listen to Jim’s full interview here:

We spoke with Merritt McDougall, Valley Water Management, a division within Valley Irrigation which serves as a support group for its dealer network focusing on custom pumping and automation projects.
“Our dealer network may run into problems where they need assistance. We act as a Swiss Army Knife for the dealers so when they have those special problems we can come in to assist from both an engineering and economic point of view,” said McDougall.
Merritt said the entire ag irrigation market is changing and they really encourage growers to stay up-to-date on the new technologies that will help them with their bottom line. Listen to Merritt’s full interview here:
