Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) commissioner, Ajit Pai, made a trip to Kansas City, MO to address attendees of the 2015 National Association of Farm Broadcasting’s (NAFB) annual convention.
Commissioner Pai spoke on several subjects specific to rural America and issues facing farm broadcasters, including the revitalization of AM radio to serve farmers, rural communities, even foreign language listeners. He also addressed the lack of internet access in rural areas, especially as it relates to allowing farmers to use precision tech like UAVs and in cab computing.
“With an increase in technology there comes an increasing need for broadband. High-speed Internet connection is essential for what we call ‘machine to machine communication.’ Communications that make it possible to increase productivity and manage costs,” Pai says.
